2020-2021 First Nations and Inuit Youth Employment Strategy (FNIYES) call for proposals is now open. Please find attached the proposal template for the 2020-2021 First Nations and Inuit Youth Employment Strategy.  The FNIYES proposals are due February 20, 2020.

The First Nations and Inuit Youth Employment Strategy proposals are to outline needs under the following two programs:

  1. Summer Work Experience
  2. Skills Link
    • Mentored Work Experience
    • Science and Technology
    • Career Promotion Awareness
    • Cooperative Education

Please ensure that your proposal includes detailed descriptions of the activities you wish to provide. For example, within proposed Summer Work and Mentored Work placements, please ensure that titles for each placement and sufficient details of the job activities, including expenses, are provided.

The FNIYES National Program Guidelines can be found online at:

Summer Work Experience – https://www.sac-isc.gc.ca/eng/1100100033610/1533125433575

Skills Link – https://www.sac-isc.gc.ca/eng/1578604824256/1578604853768

With the usage of INAC’s Education Information System, all proposals must be submitted electronically via e-mail to aadnc.reportsontario.aandc@canada.ca and c.c. to sean.stuckless@canada.ca and carmel.zoccole@canada.ca.

Please ensure you indicate in your email subject line the following information: “20 21 FNIYES [recipient #] [Recipient Name] Proposal” e.g. 20 21 FNIYES “Name” Proposal. A clear title helps us with processing and tracking the increased volume of incoming email submissions.

As in past years, Ontario Region ISC anticipates that the overall requests will exceed available resources. Demand in 2020-2021 will be particularly high given that annual budget enhancements to the program received under Budget 2016 and Budget 2017 have now concluded. We will inform you of any further enhancements. As always, we will make every effort to maximally fund proposals but need to maintain the priority on First Nation communities and organizations.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me at sean.stuckless@canada.ca or 416-873-4138.
